Freeman Burn Hut
The Freeman Burn hut is one the older historical huts within Fiordland National Park and was but in the early 1930’s. This hut is located deep in the end of the North Arm on Lake Manapouri and can only be accessed by boat hut and offers a truly remote Fiordland experience. The hut has recently been completely refurbished over the summer period of 2022 with the assistance of the Manapouri water Taxi providing transport for the Sothern Lakes Deerstalkers and Back country Hut Trust. The Freeman Burn hut is now in great condition while still maintaining that classic back country hut look and feel including a fantastic new fireplace for keeping warm on those colder Fiordland days.
Don’t forget to checkout the nearby Freeman Burn river with large trout cruising in the slow clear flowing waters!
The Freeman Hut can be accessed by our Water Taxi and is approximately a 50min boat ride. The trip leaves Pearl Harbour heading out onto the lake past Stony Point and heading up the main lake past Pomona Island before heading into the North Arm with the hut located at the end of the arm.
