Maree & Nick Key
The Manapouri Water Taxi is locally owned and operated by Maree & Nick Key who are local residents of Manapouri and both are qualified, experienced skippers.
Maree has a SRL skipper’s qualification endorsed up to 24m and also is a commercial airline pilot with a broad depth of knowledge and experience including transport safety and investigative roles for aviation and maritime.
Nick has a SRL skippers qualification endorsed up to 12m and been operating in a commercial role since 2002 and has 21 years’ experience including water taxi operations, environmental monitoring, and scientific research. Nick has undertaken extensive work on all of the Hydro generation Lakes within New Zealand, particularly shoreline dynamics on Lake Manapouri and Lake Te Anau.
Maree and Nick have 2 teenage children – Bailey & Katelyn and all enjoy family boating and fishing adventures on Lake Manapouri with the many hidden bays with surrounding native forest and the golden sandy beaches that the Lake has to offer.
